19" (48 cm.) All-cloth doll with side-seamed head attached to
torso and legs,having oil-painted stiffened facial complexion with
naively-stitched definition of nose,painted brown outlined eyes
with white eye dots,brows,little mouth,blushed cheeks,coarse
horsehair-like wig,jointed arms,fine old gingham costume with
cross stitch trim on dress and under-
apron,undergarments,boots,cameo brooch. Condition: generally
excellent with overall age darkening. Comments: American folk
artist,unknown,late 1800s. Value Points: charmingly-constructed
detail of face and painted features,unusual wig,original
costume,of the appealing early doll.
