Description
17" (43 cm.) Bisque head with flat-cut neck socket,blue glass
paperweight inset eyes with spiral threading,dark eyeliner,painted
curly lashes,brush-stroked brows,accented nostrils and eye
corners,open mouth,shaded outlined lips,row of tiny porcelain
teeth,pierced ears,carton torso with original glazed muslin
cover,composition arms,kid-over-wooden hinged upper
legs,composition lower legs with bare feet. A clockwork mechanism
is enclosed within the torso and,when wound,the bebe waves her
feet and arms in baby-like manner,and cries "mama". Condition:
generally excellent,mechanism functions well. Comments: Jules
Steiner,an early version of his Bebe Gigoteur,circa 1875. Value
Points: rare petite size of the enchanting mechanical doll,wearing
luxury original aqua silk satin dress,layered undergarments,aqua
socks and kidskin shoes.
