Description
18" (46 cm.) and 20". All-carved wooden dolls with one-piece
head,torso and legs,jointing at shoulders,elbows and ankles to
allow variations of posing,with elaborately carved hair in classic
style as portrayed in paintings of the American hero and his wife;
having painted definition of hair,complexion and facial features
with light luminous finish,and each wearing its original costume.
Condition: generally excellent. Marks: W.P.A (on shoulders,and
initials NK). Value Points: likely the most finely rendered of the
W.P.A. dolls,with well-carved and painted folk art-like qualities.
