Description
12" (30 cm.) Each is an all-cloth doll with flat-dimensional face with oil-painted facial features,two with brown upper- or side- glancing eyes,the third with blue downcast eyes,painted lashes,closed mouth,and all with yarn hair in various styles. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: American,circa 1935,the dolls were created by American artists during their tenure with the Depression-era Works Progress Administration (W.P.A.); these particular dolls are the work of the Alabama group. Value Points: pristine preservation of the rare dolls,considered among the finest works of the project,with artful painting and fine original costumes.
