Description
25" (64 cm.) The all-wooden doll has swivel head with dowel
connection to torso,slender oval face and elongated
throat,sculpted brown hair drawn from face into carved
chignon,deeply sculpted eye sockets with well-defined
eyelids,painted hazel-brown eyes,aquiline nose,well-sculpted ears
and mouth,all-wooden body with shapely torso,dowel-jointing at
shoulders,elbows,hips and knees,carved ankle boots,carved fingers
in expressive poses and with left hand having an attached wooden
pail. Condition: original painted finish throughout albeit with
age paint rubs and wear. Comments: Continental,probably southern
Germany,18th century. Value Points: outstanding figure of highly
personalized lady with carved hair,fully articulated wooden
body,and multi-layered and original costume of silks and
homespun,with metallic details. Ex-collection Margaret Woodbury
