Description
24" (61 cm.) Seated upon a high-back wooden chair is a paper-mache
elderly woman with incised wrinkles,brown glass eyes,leather
eyelids,sculpted brows,hinged jaw,row of porcelain teeth,grey
hair,wire spectacles,carton torso and legs in seated pose,wire
upper arms,paper-mache hands,holding a tea cup and saucer in her
hands. When wound,she lifts the tea cup to her mouth as though
about to drink,and her eye lids open and close while jaw hinges
open. Condition: the mechanism functions slowly,fine professional
restoration to the face. Comments: French,attributed to
Vichy,circa 1890. Value Points: well-sculpted face lends charm to
the realistic everyday activity.
