Description
19" (48 cm.) Pressed bisque socket head with very full
cheeks,brown glass enamel inset eyes of great
depth,eyeliner,painted lashes,brush-stroked brows with feathered
detail,mauve-blushed eye shadow,shaded nostrils,closed mouth with
defined space between the outlined lips,separately modeled pierced
ears,blonde lambswool wig over cork pate,French composition and
wooden eight-loose-ball-jointed body with straight wrists.
Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 8 (head) Jumeau Medaille
d'Or Paris (body). Comments: Emile Jumeau,circa 1878,first period
bebe with Medaille d'Or body,the award achieved at the 1878 Paris
International Exposition. Value Points: most endearing early bebe
with fine quality of bisque,beautifully sculpted applied pierced
ears,original wig and original Jumeau comb (some comb teeth
missing),original costume including bronze silk (frail) dress with
Alencon lace trim,undergarments,stockings,beautiful earrings,and
cream kidskin shoes impressed "E. Jumeau Med d'Or Paris 1878". Ex-
