25" (64 cm.) Pressed bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque
shoulder plate,very plump cheeks,blue glass paperweight inset eyes
with spiral threading and darker iris rims,dark eyeliner,painted
lashes,rose-blushed eye shadow,brush-stroked and feathered
brows,accented eye corners,shaded nostrils,closed mouth with
modeled tiny tongue tip,shaded and outlined lips,pierced
ears,blonde mohair wig over cork pate,kid gusset-jointed bebe body
with square cut collarette,elongated leather arms with gusset-
jointed elbows,stitched and separated fingers. Condition:
generally excellent. Marks: F. 10 G. (head and shoulder plate)
Paris No. 10 (original paper label on front torso). Comments:
Gaultier,circa 1880,the firm's early period bebe. Value Points:
especially beautiful,with most delicate pale bisque enhanced by
artistic sculpting,artistic painting of features and
complexion,and with splendid eyes; the rare large size of this
model is enhanced further by fine antique aqua silk twill
costume,matching hat,wooden-handled silk parasol,and aqua silk
shoes.
