28" (71 cm.) Carved wooden doll with bedpost-shaped head,elongated throat,shapely bosom,flat back,painted complexion over gesso finish,inset black enamel eyes in small oval eye sockets,painted all-around lashes,single-stroke brows,shapely nose,tiny closed mouth,rosy blush circles on cheeks,early brunette human-hair wig,crudely shaped wooden legs with dowel jointing at hips and knees,leather arms,wearing early cotton gown of transfer-design pattern on muslin,having quilted skirt,undergarments,early cap. Condition: very good/excellent,left foot top chipped. Comments: England,circa 1780. Value Points: wonderful large size of the regally posed wooden doll,with original finish,nice early costume.
