Description
17" (43 cm.) Each has paper-mache shoulder head with sculpted
short black curly hair,ebony-black complexion,painted facial
features,painted black down-glancing eyes,sculpted brows,closed
mouth,slender kid body with carved wooden lower arms and legs,flat
feet. Condition: the man is excellent and all-original; the woman
has light blistering and few rubs. Comments: Germany,circa 1850.
Value Points: very rare pair of black dolls,with fine original
antique costumes,the man with especially fine embroidery on the
woolen and homespun costumes.
