11" (28 cm.) Polychromed terra cotta head with unique heart-shaped face, sculpted close-cropped black hair with comb-marked detail, enamel eyes, heavily-lidded eyes, mouth modeled as though lips slightly parted, with a row of teeth, tow-wrapped posable armature body, carved wooden lower arms and legs, early costume comprising painted blue stockings, orange/brown shoes with orange bows, wearing brown breeches, red vest, jacket with velvet trim. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Neapolitan, early 1700s, attributed to the workshops of the Neapolitan artist, Lorenzo Mosca. Value Points: outstanding sculpture with very expressive features, original painting.
