20" (51 cm.) Bisque shoulder head with oval slender face in
uptilted pose,brown glass sleep eyes with heavily-modeled
eyelids,mohair lashes,painted lower lashes,feathered
brows,accented nostrils,closed mouth,brunette mohair wig over
plaster pate,slender kid body with pin-jointing at hips,knees and
shoulders,slender bisque forearms. Condition: generally excellent.
Marks: 172 7 (head) (Kestner crown and streamer label on body).
Comments: Kestner,circa 1910,from the designs of American society
ladies of the era by the noted American illustrator,Charles Dana
Gibson; the distinctive model became known as "Gibson Girl". Value
Points: beautiful matte bisque on the classic doll,with original
wig,pate,lashes,distinctive body in very sturdy condition,lovely
rose silk costume.
