Description
15" (38 cm.) Bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque shoulder
plate,blue glass paperweight inset eyes,dark eyeliner,painted
lashes,arched brows,accented nostrils and eye corners,closed mouth
with outlined lips,pierced ears,blonde mohair wig over cork
pate,carton torso and long skirt which encloses a clockwork
mechanism with hidden wheels at the base,bisque forearms; when
wound,the doll glides forward and in circles,waves arms and cries
"mama". Condition: generally excellent,restoration to right and
left thumb and forefinger. Marks: Bru Jne 2. Comments: the gliding
lady automaton was advertised by Jules Steiner in as early as 1867
and was offered with various bisque heads. Value Points: beautiful
petite face with lovely painting,wearing lovely antique costume.
