17" (43 cm.) Bisque swivel head on kid-lined bisque shoulder
plate,cobalt blue glass enamel inset eyes,dark
eyeliner,delicately-painted lashes and brows,accented nostrils and
eye corners,closed mouth with outlined lips,pierced ears,brunette
mohair wig over cork pate,kid poupee body with shapely
torso,gusset-jointing at elbows,hips and knees. Condition:
generally excellent. Comments: Paris,circa 1870. Value Points: the
classic poupee has lovely pale bisque enhanced by rich cobalt
eyes,sturdy body and wears early bronze green silk faille gown
with fringed peach silk banding,undergarments,stockings,early
leather heeled slippers,and very elegant early straw bonnet. The
doll is featured in the book,Lady Dolls of the 19th Century and
the Costumes They Wore,by Florence Theriault,page 112.
