33" (84 cm.) Pale bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque shoulder
plate,blue glass enamel inset eyes with spiral threading,dark
eyeliner,painted lashes,rose-blushed eye shadow,brush-stroked and
feathered brows,accented eye corners,shaded nostrils,closed mouth
with accented lips,pierced ears,brunette mohair wig over cork
pate,all-wooden body with very shapely torso,rounded
derriere,dowel-articulation at shoulders,elbows,wrists,hips and
knees,extra-pivot jointing at upper arms and legs,with beautiful
antique silk gown and undergarments,ruffled lace and blue silk
matching bonnet. Condition: generally excellent,original body
finish albeit typical rubs. Marks: 11. Comments: Gaultier,circa
1867,with original body based upon the 1865 deposed design of
Frederic and Marie Anqueulle; the large size indicates its
possible creation intended for display at the 1867 International
Exposition in Paris. Value Points: splendid poupee with beautiful
bisque,outstanding sculpting of body with defined separate
fingers,ankle folds,few other models of this size are known to
exist.
