20" (51 cm.) One-piece carved wooden head and shapely torso,slender elongated face with well-defined carving of eye sockets,eyelids,strong nose,closed mouth with slight smile,painted blue eyes,tendrils of blonde hair beneath attached coiffure,dowel- jointed shoulders and elbows of wooden arms,wooden carved one- piece legs,painted white stockings,and orange shoes with gold painted buckles. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Continental and late 18th century. Value Points: most expressive features with finely-painted detail,wearing fine original embroidered silk costume with metallic thread detail,matching cap. Ex-Collection Margaret Woodbury Strong.
