20" (51 cm.) Bisque socket head,blue glass paperweight inset
eyes,heavily-modeled eyelids,dark eyeliner,painted lashes,brush-
stroked and feathered brows,accented eye corners,shaded
nostrils,closed mouth with defined space between the outlined pale
lips,separately-modeled pierced ears,blonde mohair wig over cork
pate,French composition and wooden eight-loose-ball-jointed body
with straight wrists. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 9
(head) Jumeau Medaille d'Or Paris (body). Comments: Emile
Jumeau,circa 1884,his bebe model known as Bebe Triste (in
reference to her sad face),sculpted under commission for Jumeau by
the noted Parisian artist Carriere-Belleuse. Value Points: rare
size 9 model of the beloved doll,wearing her original Jumeau
couturiere dress and hat,original undergarments,turquoise earrings
and necklace,socks,and aqua kidskin shoes with silk rosettes
impressed "E. Jumeau Med d'Or Paris".
