13" (33 cm.) Bisque socket head with very angular features,dark
blue glass inset eyes,painted lashes and brows,shaded
nostrils,closed mouth with "O" hole at the center,brunette mohair
wig over original pate with cut holes for sound release,French
paper-mache five-piece body with hollow at back torso in which a
rubber ball is resting,the ball connected to a tube which leads
into his head,antique costume may be original. Condition:
generally excellent. Marks: Le parisien (red stamp). Comments:
Jules Steiner,circa 1890,the facial model was uniquely designed
for this doll; when the ball is squeezed,a faint whistle emits
from his mouth,Value Points: rare model with original body and
whistling components,wonderful expression.
