14" (36 cm.) Bisque shoulder head with rich brown complexion,brown glass inset eyes,black painted brows,dark eyeliner,accented nostrils,open mouth with double row of teeth,ears pierced into head,black mohair fleecy wig over cork pate,tinted-brown kidskin poupee body with gusset-jointing at elbows,hips and knees,stitched and separated fingers,wearing elaborate multi-layered African costume. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: attributed to Leon Casimir Bru,circa 1875,the model,with its highly- characterized distinctive features,is written about in The Bru Book by Theimer/Theriault on pages 47-49. Value Points: highly- refined artistic sculpting with distinctive profile,aristocratic bearing,beautiful luminous complexion.
