19" (48 cm.) Bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque shoulder
plate,amber-brown glass paperweight inset eyes with unusual blue
iris rims,dark eyeliner,painted lashes,feathered brows,mauve-
blushed eye shadow,accented eye corners,shaded nostrils,closed
mouth with defined space between the pale outlined lips,pierced
ears,original blonde mohair wig over cork pate,Bru kid poupee body
with gusset-jointing at hips and knees,and wooden arms with dowel-
articulation at shoulders,elbows and wrists,separately-carved
fingers. Condition: generally excellent,head and body are
completely original to each other. Marks: I (head) H (left
shoulder). Comments: Leon Casimir Bru,circa 1877,very rare
transitional and all-original model,featuring the earliest bebe
model head having the letter markings of the classic "smiling"
poupee,and on distinctive Bru poupee body with deposed wooden arms
whose plumpness is appropriately-scaled for bebe. Value Points:
the rarity of the bebe is rivaled by her exquisite and delicate
beauty,finest bisque and painting,original wig,body and superb
early silk gown with lace and silk floral
trim,undergarments,leather shoes signed with "P" in script.
