Description
11" (28 cm.) Paper-mache head with deeply-sculpted features of
crying baby,squinted eyes,closed mouth modeled wide open,enclosed
in original paper-mache taufling form with painted and lacquered
finish,with decorative garland ribbons,wire upper arms,carved
wooden hands,original lace bonnet and gown; hidden beneath the
gown is a bellows crier that operates from a push button,causing
the doll to turn its head side to side,clasp hands and cry "mama".
Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Germany,mid-19th
century. Value Points: rare taufling baby with mechanical push-
button,original presentation and costume.
