Description
20" (51 cm.) Bisque socket head, slender face and throat, dark glass inset eyes, brown painted lashes with "dot" highlights,brush- stroked feathered brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, very slightly-parted lips with sculpted row of teeth, pale blonde mohair wig,French composition and wooden fully-jointed lady body with shapely torso, elongated slender arms and legs. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: SFBJ 238 Paris 4. Comments: SFBJ,circa 1915,possibly from the series of lady dolls in historic costumes presented by Margaine-Lacroix during the exhibition featuring the A. Marque artist dolls; this is suggested by the style and quality of costuming and the known fact that SFBJ lady dolls were included in that exhibition. Value Points: the doll has original unique wig in the late 18th century style, and wears completely original costume of bronze faille silk with richly embroidered tapestry panels and rhinestone borders, original undergarments, stockings and shoes.
