17" (43 cm.) Solid-domed paper mache swivel head on shoulder plate
with gofum finish,elongated slender face,bald pate with inset hair
at each side of face,sculpted large ears,half-moon-shaped enamel
inset eyes,feathered brows,tiny closed mouth with accented
lips,muslin body with paper-wrapped torso,crier,paper mache lower
arms and legs. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: (maker's
stamp on torso). Comments: Japanese,late 19th century play doll
known as Ichimatsu. Value Points: wonderful characterized face
with great expression,original signed body,original multi-layered
costume,unusual hair style.
