23" (58 cm.) Bisque socket head with very plump cheeks and pointy- tip shape of nose,blue glass sleep eyes with rich spiral threading,painted lashes,brush-stroked brows with feathering,accented nostrils and eye corners,open mouth with shaded and outlined lips,two square cut upper teeth and one lower,deeply-dimpled chin,composition and wooden eight-loose-ball jointed body with original short legs indicating toddler,antique costume. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 979 15. Comments: Simon and Halbig,circa 1885,the early model closely resembles the Schmitt bebe with pear-shaped facial modeling,even to the unusually modeled toddler style body rarely found on these early dolls. Value Points: very expressive features including shape of head,chin dimple and plump cheeks.
