Description
20" (51 cm.) Bisque head with flanged neck,highly-characterized facial features including wide beaming smile with cheek dimples,impressed and painted clown lines at the outer corners of the brown glass inset eyes,brush-stroked wavy brows,accented nostrils and eye corners,closed mouth with painted teeth,wooden block torso with wire upper arms and legs,wooden lower limbs,painted red stockings and black shoes. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 137. Comments: attributed to Zinner and Sohne,circa 1890. Value Points: all original with striped clown costume and jester cap,holding tin cymbals which clap merrily together when the bellows in his tummy is squeezed.
