19" (48 cm.) Bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque shoulder
plate,neck articulation allowing the head to tilt forward and
side-to-side as well as swivel,small grey glass enamel inset
eyes,dark eyeliner,painted lashes,feathered brows,accented
nostrils and eye corners,closed mouth with accented lips,ears
pierced into head,brunette human hair wig over cork pate,kid
poupee body with shapely torso,gusset-jointing at elbows,hips and
knees,stitched and separated fingers. Condition: generally
excellent. Comments: French,Alexandre Dehors,circa 1866; a review
of the dolls exhibited at the 1867 International Paris Exhibition
noted "the Dehors dolls can make neck motions that allow them to
say yes and no,and to incline their heads to the side. These new
movements make available to the dolls a modest sense of
superiority,as if to say ?Go ahead,Huret doll,see if you can do
the same'." Value Points: the beautiful doll wears a lovely green
and grey silk ensemble,undergarments,leather boots,coral felt
bonnet,green and rose kidskin gloves,and owns a trunk with a
variety of other costumes and accessories.
