Description
17" (43 cm.) Carved one-piece wooden head and torso of slender-
bodied black-complexioned man with carved facial features,dark
enamel inset eyes,strong nose,closed mouth with defined space
between the lips,defined throat hollow,carved dark brown flowing
hair with flowing long ringlet curl at each side,and a long looped
braid at the back,carved goatee,wooden arms with separately-
sculpted fingers and dowel-jointing at the shoulders and
elbows,wooden legs with dowel-jointing at the hips and knees,bare
feet,original wooden stand. Condition: generally excellent,tips of
left thumb and right baby finger broken. Comments: Southern
Germany,late 18th century. Value Points: fine original finish on
the rare figure,exceptional and unusual hair sculpting,fully-
articulated body,original silk and velvet costume.
