Description
22" (56 cm.) h. including hat. Standing upon a velvet-covered base is a bisque head doll with blue glass eyes, mohair lashes, open mouth, four porcelain teeth, dimpled chin, pierced ears, brunette mohair wig over cork pate, wire upper arms, bisque forearms, carton torso and legs. The doll is standing behind a pedestal stand upon which is posed a small bisque doll with blue glass eyes. When wound, the larger doll turns her head side to side, nods, and alternately lifts the baton in her right hand, and lorgnette in her left, as though directing the little doll which dances upon the table, twirling side to side, while music plays. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 1300-3 1/2 Dep SH. Comments: Roullet et Decamps, circa 1895. Value Points: charming automaton, with well-functioning movement and music, original costumes.
