16" (41 cm.) Bisque socket head with solid dome and sculpted short
brown curly hair,painted facial features,deeply-set eye sockets
with painted downcast eyes with darker rims,heavy eyelids with
dark eyeliner,single-stroke brows,accented nostrils,closed mouth
with shaded outlined lips,composition and wooden ball-jointed
body. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 153 S&H 7. Comments:
Simon and Halbig,circa 1910,one of the four rare character dolls
created by that firm for their 150 series. Value Points: very rare
art character doll with exemplary sculpting especially of hair and
wonderfully-modeled nose,well-defined eyes and mouth,original body
and body finish,and fine antique mariner costume.
