Description
11" (28 cm.) All-felt doll with plump swivel head,amber-tinted
complexion,high domed forehead with high comma-shaped
brows,modeled closed eyes,long painted lashes,closed mouth with
original hole in center for pipe stem,stitched ears,black mohair
wig drawn tightly up from face to form into a long queue,ball-
shaped plump stomach on short legs,jointed arms. Condition:
generally excellent,pipes may not be original. Comments:
Lenci,circa 1921,the doll was identified in a 1922 Lenci
advertisement as their "trademark" doll. Value Points: the doll
wears its original wool felt costume of yellow,green,black and
orange colors,with Chinese-character felt applique designs,and
stitched-on ball-shaped cap.
