Description
20" (51 cm.) Posed upon a flat red-velvet covered platform is a
bisque-headed doll with blue glass paperweight eyes,painted dark
curly lashes,brush-stroked and feathered brows,accented nostrils
and eye corners,rose blushed eye shadow,closed mouth,accented
lips,pierced ears,original blonde wig over cork pate,bisque
shoulder plate and lower arms,carton torso that contains clockwork
mechanism,carton legs,one posed with pointing toe,the other with
bent knee and foot in air. When wound the doll
pirouettes,periodically kicks foot,moves head in realistic manner
and shakes the tambourine she holds in her left hand,while music
plays. Condition: generally excellent,mechanism and music function
well. Comments: Gustav Vichy,circa 1885,with bisque poupee head by
Gaultier. Value Points: among the most charming automata created
by that firm,with elegant and realistic movements enhanced by
dainty and lavish rose satin and lace costume,beautiful original
wig.
