Description
14" (36 cm.) Each has carved wooden head with deeply-defined hair
and facial features,on all-wooden body with dowel-jointing at
shoulders,elbows,hips and knees,sculpted fingers,chip-carved lower
legs with painted stockings and shoes. Condition: generally
excellent. Comments: paper label attached to the man indicates
that the dolls were made in the Harz Mountains of Northern
Germany,circa 1880. Value Points: fine detail of carving includes
handsome visage on gentleman,carved coiled braid on woman,both
wearing their original wool folklore costumes.
