Description
31" (79 cm.) Bisque socket head with very high dome and small pate
cut at back of head,small brown glass sleep eyes,mohair
lashes,painted curly lashes,short feathered brows,accented
nostrils and eye corners,rounded nose tip,closed mouth modeled as
though open with two beaded upper teeth,stuck-out tongue tip and
outlined lips,brunette hand-tied human hair wig,composition and
wooden ball-jointed toddler body with chubby tummy and side-hip
jointing. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: AW 16. Comments:
Adolf Wislizensus,circa 1911,who in that year under the new
directorship of Hans Heincke registered the DRGM 421 481 and
advertised "we hold the record in our assortment of character
dolls,models of our own..." (illustrations of dolls in this
advertisement appear in Cieslik's German Doll Encyclopedia,page
338). Value Points: very rare character virtually unknown in this
grand size,the rarity enhanced by very deep modeling of features
especially impressed cheek dimples and mouth,finest quality of
bisque and painting,original body and body finish,and wearing
superb antique brown wool vest and pants with soutache
embroidery,striped stockings,and black leather shoes with cobbled
heels.
