24" (61 cm.) Bisque socket head,brown glass paperweight inset eyes,thick dark eyeliner,painted dark curly lashes,umber eye shadow,brush-stroked and feathered brows,accented nostrils and eye corners,closed mouth with defined space between the outlined lips,pierced ears,brunette hand-tied human hair wig over cork pate,French composition and wooden fully-jointed body. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: E 11 D. Comments: Jumeau,circa 1892,the bebe bears the initials of Emile Douillet who directed the Jumeau firm at this time; evidently the production of E.D. marked dolls was made as an honorary gesture for a short time only as few examples are known to exist. Value Points: rare model with very distinctive rich facial painting of features and complexion,fine antique costume including Jumeau shoes signed "Paris Depose 11" with bee symbol.
