Bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque shoulder plate,pale blue glass enamel inset eyes with spiral threading and darker blue outer rims,dark eyeliner,painted lashes,delicate mauve eye shadow,feathered brows,closed mouth with outlined lips,pierced ears,lambswool wig over cork pate,original kid bebe body with gusset-jointing,bisque forearms and hands. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 4/0. Comments: Leon Casimir Bru,his premiere bebe,the Bebe Brevete,circa 1879,based upon his patent of that year which described "bebes [whose bodies would be] made of leather,supple,light,sturdy,fully-articulated,strikingly beautiful". Value Points: rare early bebe in pristine original condition,with very firm body,exquisite hands,original wig,original (somewhat frail) costume,bonnet,leather shoes signed B (in script,in oval) and 0000.
