Description
15" (38 cm.) Each has carved wooden head and torso,carved facial
features including pronounced eye sockets,strong
nose,moustache,and carved well-detailed helmet,attached arms with
separately-sculpted fingers,wooden legs with dowel-jointing at
hips and knees,carved boots,original wooden stand. Condition:
generally excellent,few minor paint rubs on original finish.
Comments: Southern Germany,late 18th century. Value Points:
original finish on the very rare carved soldier guards whose
carving includes detailed helmets,each wearing its original
costume,including metal equipment and woven breastplate to suggest
armor.
