Solid-domed paper mache swivel head on shoulder plate with gofum finish,painted light grey hair in delicate tendrils,sculpted ears,narrow enamel inset eyes,feathered brows,closed mouth with accented lips,muslin body with paper- wrapped upper torso,paper mache lower torso and lower arms and legs. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: (maker's stamp on torso). Comments: Japanese,early 20th century play doll known as Ichimatsu. Value Points: pristine condition,with expressive features,delicate complexion,and very fine multi-layered original costume,with original box.
