Description
17" (43 cm.) Felt swivel head with very plump rounded face,pressed
and painted facial features,large blue googly side-glancing
eyes,brown curly upper lashes,accented nostrils,closed mouth with
prim lips,carrot red auburn wig,jointed felt arms and legs.
Condition: very good except repair on right wrist at basket
attachment. Comments: Lenci,the 178 series was shown in early
Lenci catalogs including the 1926 catalog which featured ten
delightful examples,not including the present one. Value Points:
among the rarest of the Lenci early dolls,the shy wide-eyed
character has well-detailed felt costume with applique
stripes,dots and bands,woolen stockings,black felt slippers,and
with bouquet of felt flowers in her left hand,and a basket of felt
flowers in her right hand.
