17" (43 cm.) Bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque shoulderplate, blue glass enamel inset eyes, thick dark eyeliner, painted lashes, arched feathered brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth with accented lips and upturned lip corners, pierced ears, light brown mohair wig over cork pate, all-wooden fully-articulated body with ball-swivel waist, dowel-jointing at shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, knees and ankles. Condition: generally excellent, original body finish with some flaking. Marks: E (head and shoulders). Comments: Leon Casimir Bru, circa 1872, the wooden body was deposed by Bru in 1867, and the rare smiling expression head model was deposed in 1872. Value Points: rare doll with especially beautiful face and painting, wooden articulated body, wearing lovely sapphire green silk gown with undergarments, knee-high heeled leather boots, and matching green satin parasol with bone handle.
