22" (56 cm.) Bisque socket head with very full cheeks and
chin,brown glass paperweight inset eyes with heavily-modeled
eyelids,dark eyeliner,painted lashes,mauve blushed eye
shadow,brush-stroked and multi-feathered brows,accented eye
corners,shaded nostrils,closed mouth with defined space between
the outlined pale lips,separately-modeled pierced ears,original
blonde mohair wig over cork pate,French composition and wooden
eight-loose-ball-jointed body with straight wrists,plump limbs.
Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 10 (head) Jumeau Medaille
d'Or Paris (body). Comments: Emile Jumeau,circa 1884,from the
commissioned sculpture by Carrier-Belleuse,the model known as Bebe
Triste in reference to her wistful expression. Value Points: rare
size of the beloved model with very fine delicate bisque,beautiful
painting around the eyes,original wig,body,body finish,and
beautiful antique coral velvet and lace dress with matching bonnet
(likely original),fur muff and collar,undergarments,socks and
shoes.
