23" (58 cm.) Solid domed bisque head with flat-cut neck
socket,dark blue glass paperweight inset eyes,dark
eyeliner,painted lashes,rose blushed eye shadow,brush-stroked
brows with feathering,accented eye corners,shaded nostrils,open
mouth,outlined lips,row of tiny porcelain teeth,original long
blonde mohair wig,carton torso containing mechanism,composition
arms and lower legs,kid-over-metal hinged hips. Condition:
generally excellent. Marks: Au Nain Bleu E. Chauviere Bould des
Capucines,27 Paris (paper label). Comments: Bebe Gigoteur,the
deposed doll of Jules Steiner,circa 1880,when wound,the doll waves
its arms and legs,and cries "mama". Value Points: rare size,the
doll was presented in the prestigious Parisian doll store of Au
Nain Bleu and has its original label,wearing elaborate original
gown and bonnet from Au Nain Bleu atelier,and original cream
kidskin shoes with impressed full figure of a doll.
