Description
19" (48 cm.) Standing upon a velvet-covered wooden base is a
bisque-head doll with blue glass eyes,painted features,open
mouth,four porcelain teeth,pierced ears,brunette human hair over
cork pate,French carton torso and legs,wire upper arms,bisque
forearms. The woman stands behind an ironing table,a basket of
laundry at her front,and holds a small iron in her hand. When
wound,music plays,she nods her head up and down,and briskly
irons,while using her left hand to move table cloth along.
Condition: mechanism and music function well,roughness around neck
base (under ruffle),right hand is restored. Comments: Roullet &
Decamps,circa 1895. Value Points: amusing mechanical vignette of
daily life,with realistic movements.
