15" (38 cm.) Bisque shoulder head,cobalt blue glass enamel inset eyes,dark eyeliner,painted lashes,feathered brows,accented nostrils and eye corners,open mouth with outlined lips,two rows of porcelain teeth,unpierced ears,blonde human hair wig over cork pate,French carton torso forming into a full cone-shaped skirt with wheeled base which contains clockwork mechanism,bisque lower arms,pretty costume. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: attributed to Jules Steiner who deposed the design for the gliding doll,circa 1860; when wound the doll glides along as though a child walking,waves arms up and down and cries "mama" in a clear voice. Value Points: well-functioning movement on the early doll with lovely bisque.
