12" (30 cm.) head circ. Solid domed bisque head with flanged neck,tinted baby hair and brows,brown glass sleep eyes,painted lashes and feathered brows,closed mouth with wide center line,muslin baby body,celluloid hands. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: copr. by Grace S. Putnam made in Germany (head) (body also signed). Comments: Bye-Lo,designed by the American artist and made in Germany under commission from Borgfeldt,1923. So successful was the doll that in its first year it became known as The Million Dollar Baby. Value Points: the signal doll has original body,and is wearing fabulous antique gown,and is enclosed in a lavish embroidered tulle and lace bunting with aqua silk ribbons.
