Description
14" (36 cm.) Each has bisque socket head with defined cheek bones,hollowed eyes,greenish/brown inset glass eyes,eyeliner with blushed umber eye shadow,tinted brows,tiny nose with accented nostrils,closed mouth with pert lips having extended center line,auburn mohair wig,five-piece composition body. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: SFBJ 239 Paris Poulbot (incised on head,the name Poulbot and incised signature). Comments: SFBJ,the dolls appeared in the Paris department store Etrennes catalogs of that year with the names Nenette and Rintintin,from the original drawings by Francisque Poulbot,celebrated Parisian sculptor and illustrator,the dolls depicting the young urchins of Montmartre left homeless by WWI. Value Points: in perfectly preserved original condition,including wigs and costumes exactly as depicted in the original catalogs,the important dolls are extremely rare,and,this year,celebrate their 100th anniversary.
