Description
30" (76 cm.) Solid domed paper mache shoulder head with very full
face that is slightly inclined,broad sloping shoulders attached to
body by original hemp ties,brown glass enamel inset eyes,heavily-
modeled lids,lightly-detailed facial features,closed mouth with
modeled upper teeth and tongue tip,wrapped hemp body,large
composition hands. Condition: probably early repaint of
head,original albeit sparse wig,original body. Comments:
European,mid-18th century. Value Points: luxury large size,with
original (very frail) silk gown with superbly embroidered details.
