31" (79 cm.) Pale bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque shoulder
plate,blue glass inset eyes with spiral threading and darker blue
outer rims,dark eyeliner,painted lashes,arched feathered
brows,accented nostrils and eye corners,closed mouth with outlined
pale lips,pierced ears,blonde mohair wig over cork pate,French kid
gusset-jointed poupee body,stitched and separated fingers and
toes,beautifully costumed,antique parasol. Condition: generally
excellent,body especially firm and sturdy with few kid repairs at
joints. Marks: 11 (head and shoulders) F.G. (head). Comments:
Gaultier,circa 1867. Value Points: the grand size and luxury
details including exquisite eyes and choicest bisque and
painting,suggest the original creation of the doll as an
Exhibition model,perhaps for the 1867 Paris International
Exposition.
