Description
27" (69 cm.) including dome. Posed en pointe upon a velvet covered platform is a bisque swivel-head head doll with brown glass paperweight eyes, closed mouth, beautifully-painted features, mohair wig, with bisque shoulderplate and lady-shaped torso and slender elongated limbs, bisque hands, wearing ballerina costume with silk ballet slippers. When wound, she pirouettes en pointe, moving her left leg forward and backward in elegant sweeps, while inclining her upper torso side to side and moving arms up and down in classic ballet poses, while music plays. Condition: generally excellent, music and mechanism function well. Marks: Depose Tete Jumeau Bte SGDG 1 (head). Comments: Roullet et Decamps, circa 1890 with bisque head by Jumeau. Value Points: exquisite detail of movements are complemented by elegant original costume and accessories; the automaton is arranged inside a glass dome for presentation.
