Description
4 1/2" (11 cm.) Waist-up porcelain figure of young girl
posed sideways,her arms holding high a well-laden basket
of grapes,bananas,apples and leaves,her head turned to the
side as though she is presenting this bounty,having light
grey hair with chignon decorated by pale yellow
coronet,and forehead jewel to match her earrings,with
draped pink shawl over blue blouse. Excellent condition.
Germany,Kister,circa 1900,the figure was inspired by the
16th-century Titian painting _Girl with basket of
fruit",and the model is featured on the cover of The Half-
Doll by Shona and Marc Lorrin.
