15" (38 cm.) Polychromed terra cotta shoulderhead turned to the side, lean angular face with well-defined features, strong complexion, black sculpted short hair brushed across his forehead, curvy black brows, enamel inset eyes, closed mouth with full lips, tow-wrapped posable armature body, carved wooden lower arms and legs, painted blue stockings, brown shoes with red buckles and high tops sculpted to appear as though wrinkled, wearing mauve silk coat, brocade vest, silk pants. Excellent condition. Neapolitan, late 1700s, attributed to the school of Francesco Celebrano who served as director of modelers for the Naples Royal Factory for ten years with particular attention to presepio figures.
